Weight Gain

Sudden weight gain or an inability
to lose weight may be a symptom
of hypothyroidism.1

People with hypothyroidism tend to experience weight gain. Most of the extra weight gained in hypothyroid individuals is due to excess accumulation of salt and water.1 Though the increase may be small, if you find yourself putting on weight and having a difficult time losing it, you could be experiencing thyroid symptoms.

Weight Gain
Weight gain is one of many hypothyroidism symptoms

If you find yourself gaining weight without any changes to your normal diet or exercise habits, you may want to ask your doctor if you are at risk for a thyroid disease such as hypothyroidism.

Talk to your doctor

Talk to your doctor about thyroid symptoms and what you can do about them. The sooner you do, the sooner you can get tested and find out if your thyroid symptoms are being caused by hypothyroidism.
