Erectile dysfunction may indicate hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). With an underactive thyroid, the
pituitary gland in the brain triggers the release of a hormone called Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) in
larger than normal amounts in an attempt to improve thyroid hormone levels. Excessive TSH has been
theorized to impact the ability to have an erection.3
