Muscle Pain

Muscle pain is one of many possible
hypothyroidism symptoms and it can
occur for a variety of reasons.1

As a symptom of hypothyroidism, muscle pain can affect every muscle of the body.2

Muscular symptoms of the body such as stiffness, pain, weakness and achiness affect 30-80% of the people with hypothyroidism.1

Muscle pain is one of many hypothyroidism symptoms

If you are suffering from muscle pain, your doctor will ask if you are experiencing other thyroid symptoms, and may order blood tests such as a TSH, T3 and T4 to assess your thyroid function. Though severe, muscle pain related to hypothyroidism can be treated with medication.

Talk to your doctor

In severe cases it can result in muscle wasting (atrophy) and muscle cell enlargement (hypertrophy) in the arms, legs, and the tongue.2

Some people may have increased difficulty performing normal daily activities and be at a higher risk of falls.1 Muscle pain is one of the more common thyroid symptoms.

If you suffer from unexplained muscle pain or any other thyroid symptoms, go and get your thyroid tested as soon as possible.
