Erectile dysfunction is one of many hypothyroidism symptoms.1 With erectile dysfunction, it is difficult to
have a full erection or to sustain an erection for sexual acts.2
Erectile dysfunction can be caused by aging, smoking, certain medications, psychological issues, and
physical conditions, like hypothyroidism.1,2
An underactive thyroid results in reduced erectile function, sexual activity, and even negatively impacts the
production and quality of sperm.1
Of all the hypothyroidism symptoms, erectile dysfunction can deeply impact a man’s quality of life and
relationships, with the impairment of his ejaculatory reflex and sex drive.3,4
If you have erectile dysfunction, you may have an undiagnosed thyroid condition and should speak to your
doctor.
